As a wedding photographer, I’ve had the privilege of documenting countless love stories. But Maggie and Keith’s Jewish wedding at the Corinthian Yacht Club in Tiburon, California, was truly something special. This stunning venue, with its breathtaking views of San Francisco Bay, provided the perfect backdrop for a day filled with love, tradition, and unforgettable moments.
Venue: Corinthian Yacht Club // Planning: Cassie Rose Events // Hair + Makeup: The Glamorist
The Corinthian Yacht Club, perched right on the water’s edge in the beautiful Tiburon, offers one of the most spectacular views of San Francisco you could imagine. As I arrived to document Maggie and Keith’s special day, I couldn’t help but be in awe of the location. The couple chose this venue not just for its stunning vistas but because the water and spending time on the Bay is a huge part of their lives.
What made the choice of the Corinthian Yacht Club even more magical was the couple’s decision to hold their wedding during a full moon. Maggie’s father helped select the date, ensuring that as night fell, the city lights of San Francisco would twinkle across the bay under the glow of a full moon. As a photographer, I was thrilled at the prospect of capturing these ethereal moments.
As the sun set over the Corinthian Yacht Club, the venue transformed. The daytime views of sailboats and blue water gave way to the twinkling lights of San Francisco, all under the glow of the full moon. This transition provided a stunning backdrop for the reception, allowing me to document the celebration in two distinctly beautiful settings.
What made this wedding at the Corinthian Yacht Club even more special was the blending of traditions. While the Jewish wedding chuppah was central to the ceremony, the couple also incorporated Irish Catholic traditions from Maggie’s mother’s side of the family. Before cutting the cake, both families formed a circle, and Maggie’s mother gave a beautiful Irish toast – a new tradition for their family.
One of the most striking elements of Maggie and Keith’s wedding was their unique approach to the Jewish wedding chuppah. Traditionally, a chuppah is placed at the front of the ceremony space, but this couple decided to do things differently. They set up their Jewish wedding chuppah in the center of the room, surrounded by guests.
This innovative setup transformed the Jewish wedding chuppah from a backdrop into the heart of the celebration. As I documented the ceremony, I was struck by the intimacy this arrangement created. The Jewish wedding chuppah, beautifully draped with greenery by florist Maria of Studio Wildflower, became a symbol not just of the couple’s new home, but of the community surrounding and supporting them.
Maggie and Keith shared a piece of advice that I now pass on to all couples I work with: take a moment during the reception to step back and observe. The couple took two minutes to stand at the side of the ballroom, watching their friends and family celebrate. As their photographer, I captured this quiet moment of reflection amidst the joy and excitement of the day.
Documenting Maggie and Keith’s wedding at the Corinthian Yacht Club was a true pleasure. From the uniquely positioned Jewish wedding chuppah to the breathtaking views of San Francisco Bay, every moment was filled with beauty and meaning.
